Keychron V5 with Seal PBT and Desk Mat
The word “best” gets thrown around a lot when it comes to mechanical keyboards, which is common in most hobbies, but like I mention in every article, this hobby is very personalized, so there is never really one answer for everyone. That being said, today I will show you multiple amazing keyboards with num pads at different price points so you can decide which works best for you and your wallet!
Keychron V6 with Code PBT Keycaps
If you want a quick rundown on the keyboards we are going to talk about today to research on your own time, here is a list:
If you have a budget of around $100 max, there are still a couple of great options to choose from that feature a numpad. Take a look at the Yunzii YZ98, which costs around $80 USD on Kinetic Lab’s website. This keyboard is pretty much ready to go right out of the box with the following features:
The only downside at this price point is that it is very hard to find a budget keyboard with a numpad AND higher-quality materials like an aluminum case rather than a plastic one. Thankfully, the plastic in the YZ98 is slightly more durable than most.
Black YZ98 with Included PBT Keycaps
If this keyboard doesn’t have enough finesse for your tastes, feel free to take a look at one of the many offerings from Akko, as they feature all sorts of different colorways and collaborations to bring something different to your setup. Akko has collaborated with many popular brands and shows such as:
This is just the tip of the iceberg as the list goes on and on, but the best part about these collaboration keyboards is that some designs are very in-your-face when it comes to referencing the character or show, and other designs are more subtle references so there are plenty of options for everyone.
Keychron Q6 with Seal PBT Keycaps
If you want to spend a bit more money, feel free to check out the two Keychron offerings that both have num pads, the Keychron Q5 & Q6. Both of these keyboards retail around that sub $200 mark, featuring more premium materials such as an aluminum case and QMK/VIA support for changing keybindings. The Keychron Q5 features a more compact layout called the 96% or 1800 layout which still features a num pad, but takes up a lot less room than your standard full-size keyboard. The Keychron Q6 is more of your traditional take on a full-size keyboard and comes in many different colorways. Both of these keyboards can also be purchased as a barebones kit, meaning they will not come with switches or keycaps. Just in case you want to get your own, they give you the option to save a bit more money by not including any. Both of these keyboards come in a Pro & Max variant that have the following additional features:
Q5/6 Pro | Q5/6 Max |
---|---|
Bluetooth & Wired Connectivity | 2.4Hz Bluetooth & Wired Connectivity |
Different Layout (VS Standard Q5) | Upgraded Internal Foams |
Better Plate Material (Polycarbonate) | Better Plate Material (Polycarbonate) |
Default Option Comes with a Knob | Can Run More Complex Macros |
Different Switch & Color Options | Different Switch & Color Options |

If you are looking to purchase one keyboard as your end-all-be-all and don’t have any budgetary restrictions, then there are plenty of super unique and interesting designs to take a look at. Everything above $200 starts to go into more of the limited runs, which are not easily available, but if you can get your hands on one, you definitely won’t regret it.
The Wind X98 features an exploded 96% layout, and the best part about it is the fact that you can choose whether you want your num pad on the right-hand side of your keyboard like it usually is, or would prefer to have it on the left side of your keyboard so your right-hand doesn’t have to let go of the mouse to use it. Not only does it have this very unique feature, but it also uses very premium materials with a super clean-looking design that is perfect for any desk setup. This keyboard kit comes with gaskets (for gasket-mounting), plenty of different foam options, stabilizers, and a Polycarbonate plate.

The WIND X98 also has a younger brother that features more of a unique layout in the sense that it is pretty much a 65% keyboard with an added numpad to save up even more room on your desk and that is the WIND X. You also have keyboards like the MM Studio Class 0413 that brings a modern take on a classic chonky keyboard design to give your setup a vintage look if that is what you are aiming for.
There are plenty of keyboards that have a num pad that I may have missed in this list, but hopefully, I could give you some ideas on what to check out next. Happy Typing!
