Today we are going to be taking a look at Kinetic Labs’ newest switch called the Moon V2 Linear Switch! The Moon V2 is an improvement from the Moon V1’s in 2 areas: better lube job, and tighter housings. The difference here is that the factory lube job (Krytox 205g0) is now applied by hand instead of by a robot which will provide a much even experience when it comes to how much lube is on each switch.

These switches are sold in packs of 70,90,110 and go for around $0.62 per switch. They feature a Nylon PA66 Top and Bottom Housing with a POM Stem, and a 63.5g spring. All of this is combined to provide a very nice and smooth typing experience with no spring ping or ticking whatsoever. The pricing is pretty affordable all things considered because of the fact that you don’t have to lube them yourselves. Speaking of lubing switches, the lube job is great and all of my switches were consistently lubed throughout so definitely no issues there.

When it comes to the sound signature of this switch, it is very very muted so there isn’t really much to talk about. It is on the clackier side of things somehow, but what I liked the most about them is that volume-wise, these are not loud at all. Now of course they aren’t as quiet as a silent switch, but if you didn’t want to go full-on silent, this could be a great alternative due to the fact that they are definitely not as loud as your standard switch mainly because of the muted sound signature. Here is a quick sound test so you guys can hear how they sound in my TG67V2:

The feel of this switch is quite smooth throughout of course due to the lube job, but as someone who prefers double-stage springs, sometimes I did feel that the switch felt a little bit slower than I would have wanted, but unfortunately, that is just the nature of single-stage springs. I would also like to point out that while the lube job is very consistent across all my switches, some might say that there is too much lube making it feel a bit mushy compared to other switches that you might have lubed yourself. If you aren’t a fan of the lube job, it could be quite a hassle to have to clean off each switch and lube them yourself, so I would have also liked to have seen a dry version of the Moon V2s sold for those who want to do it themselves.

Overall I would say this is a great option for those who don’t like to lube switches or just don’t have the time to do it. The overall sound and feel are definitely something I really enjoy. I am not too sure that I would say that this is my favorite linear switch, but it is a great contender and offers a lot compared to the competition.
